Chinese, Pork Knuckle
A food delivery order from Crab B Restaurant in Bandar Puchong Jaya turned out better than expected. I ordered their Abalone Braised Pork Knuckle together with Belacan Petai with Minced Meat, and both dishes came through rather well for a meal eaten at home.

The braised pork knuckle was the sort of dish that could easily have lost some of its appeal in delivery, but it still landed nicely. A dish like this lives or dies on whether the meat stays tender and the sauce still feels rich enough after the trip, and this one managed to hold itself together. It had the sort of deep, savoury braise that makes the dish comforting, with enough heft to feel like a proper main rather than something token.

The belacan petai with minced meat was also quite good. Petai dishes can be a bit hit or miss depending on how balanced the seasoning is, but this one had enough character to stand out. The belacan gave it that unmistakable savoury punch, while the minced meat helped make it feel fuller and more satisfying. It worked well as the sharper, more assertive companion to the heavier pork knuckle.
What helped the order overall was that both dishes felt like proper restaurant food rather than compromised delivery food. The meal still had enough flavour and weight to make the order feel worthwhile, especially for a home dinner where you want something more substantial.
Generous portion of abalone in the dish.

Belacan Petai with Minced Meat (Small) – RM31.80
Abalone Braised Pork Knuckle – RM178.08

MVX Score: 7.8/10
M – Meal Value
This was not a cheap order, but it also was not trying to be one. The pork knuckle carries a premium price, so the question is whether the food justifies it. Since both dishes turned out quite good and the order also benefited from a discount plus free delivery, the spend felt easier to accept.
Score: 7.3/10
V – Vroomness of Delivery
For heavier Chinese dishes, delivery matters because texture and sauce can change quickly. This order held up well. The food arrived in good enough condition for both dishes to still feel satisfying at home, and the waived delivery fee helped the experience further. The discount from Grab helped defray the cost of the mark-up imposed on food delivery orders.
Score: 8.2/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor was that both dishes delivered more satisfaction than expected, especially the pairing of the rich braised pork knuckle with the punchier belacan petai.
