Hotpot
I rarely write negative reviews — but this one is deserved. My recent experience at Bon Broth Singapore was, quite frankly, the most disappointing dining encounter I’ve had in Singapore.
Let me be clear: this isn’t about the ingredients, the location, or even the ambience. All of that was fine. This is about something far more fundamental in any premium dining experience — how guests are made to feel.

From the outset, the service felt combative rather than considered. There was a persistent need from the staff to be right, to have the last word, to offer a comeback — rather than to listen, understand, and elevate the experience. It turned what should have been an enjoyable meal into an uncomfortable exchange.

And that, ultimately, is what broke the experience.
When you position yourself at a premium price point, you’re not just charging for food. You’re charging for judgement, for empathy, for the ability to read the room and respond with grace. Instead, we were left feeling defensive — and eventually, we simply lost our appetite.
We are not strangers to fine dining. We’ve gladly paid multiples more at other establishments, and left feeling delighted — because great hospitality doesn’t make you feel the price, it makes the experience feel worth it.
