Durian
It's durian season and my go-to place for durian is Durian 118, located right outside Restoran Soon Sing in Pusat Bandar Puchong. It's time to indulge in my favourite variety — Red Prawn. This particular variety, known for its unique flavour and creamy texture, originates from Penang, Malaysia. The Red Prawn durian, or "Hong Xia" as it's called in Chinese, is renowned for its distinctive reddish-orange flesh and smaller seeds, making it a favoured choice among durian enthusiasts.
What makes Red Prawn special is its rich, custard-like texture combined with a sweet, and sometimes slightly bitter taste that lingers pleasantly on the palate.
It's not a cheap indulgence, but worth every bite. The box you see here is RM122, reflecting the premium nature of this variety. Despite the price, the experience of savouring each creamy, luscious bite made it all worthwhile.
Durian 118 ensures top quality, and has not disappointed me in the years I have frequented it.
