Fiasco by Juice was a pleasant surprise - set in the artsy neighbourhood of Tiong Bahru, this is Yong Siak Street’s latest gem. The ambiance is baroque retro, and inviting. Think old school punk rock vibes; you’d imagine some avant garde artistes sipping or cafe.
The service was exquisite. I had a brilliant well informed server. The chef also came out to meet us to tell us more about the food and space - stellar.
The server highlighted a few house specialities- steak frites and egg mayo. The best steak frites I’ve had were in Paris but this comes very close. Their secret is the perfectly executed potato wedges and the special sauce. I tasted buerre blanc but I’m sure there’s more to it.
They have another special - bebek guling on the chalkboard - but I opted for the ‘safer’ bet ie steak frites. Definitely have to come back to sample the whole menu (which is just a one pager - that signals focus and high quality execution to me!)
In our early years in Sg, Tiong Bahru was a regular haunt - and Yong Siak was where one of our initial Omakase favourites was. Now we have the Yong Siak facade helmed by Fiasco by Juice - seems worthy to me. Total SGD51.70 for steak frites. This was a solid 8/10 for me.
