Dim Sum, Non-Halal
We wrapped up our Penang food trail with a dim sum breakfast at Four Hands, a modern dim sum establishment located on the corner of Jalan Burma and Jalan Transfer. The morning had blessed us with cool, breezy weather, making the walk from Nasi Kandar Makbul a lovely prelude to our final meal.
True to form, we began with the classics — har gao and siew mai. The siew mai (RM9.90) was well-seasoned and satisfying, but in our books, Lhong Tou still holds the crown with its heftier, meatier version that delivers a more substantial bite. But this one is cheaper and served in a nicer environment.

The har gao (RM14.90), on the other hand, was a standout. Delicate and translucent with a sliver of gold leaf on top, it looked indulgent but didn’t rely on gimmickry. The prawn was sweet and fresh, the wrapper just the right thickness, and the mouthfeel altogether memorable — one of the best we’ve had in recent memory.

We also tried their HK chee cheong fun (RM8.90) and pan fried turnip cake (RM13.90), both of which were decent, though not as striking as the har gao.

The other item that stood out was the Guinness pork belly bun (RM18.90). This was a soft, fluffy bun filled with tender, caramelised pork infused with the depth of stout. It was a combination that worked beautifully.

The meal for two came up to RM86.40 — a reasonable price for the thoughtful preparation, polished setting, and “atas” atmosphere. It felt like a fitting end to our Penang food journey, bringing together familiar comfort and a touch of creative flair.
