Fujisawa Izakaya Puchong Stir Fried Udon
Japanese, Non-Halal
Description

Fujisawa Izakaya Puchong is currently the only spot (that I am aware of at the time of writing) in Puchong offering kushiyaki, a Japanese style of skewered and grilled food. "Kushi" refers to the bamboo skewers used, and "yaki" means grilling or cooking over an open flame. The skewers can be made with a variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables, often seasoned with salt or tare (a soy-based sauce). It’s a popular choice at izakayas, which are casual Japanese pubs known for serving small plates to accompany drinks.
To me, it's a bit of a novelty as the skewers are already cooked when they bring the charcoal grill over to our table. It keeps the food warm but I think it dries out the meat if you take too long to eat the skewers.
We also ordered some sushi at Fujisawa which was alright.
However, it was their stir-fried udon that was the highlight of the night. Packed with flavour, it made a good impression, and would be a reason for me to revisit. Despite being newly opened and located on the upper floor, the restaurant was bustling with diners, hinting at its popularity (or novelty).
