Jawi House Cafe Gallery Dinner

Peranakan, Pork-Free

Description

Post by Chiefeater Paula Tan

At Jawi House Cafe Gallery. Dinner with my aunt last night at the charming Michelin Select Jawi Peranakan, established by Georgetown's Karim family of Punjabi-Jawi Peranakan ancestry. Dating back six generations in all, it continues to serve the cuisine created by four generations of women, taking us back along the spice route & food that has become the cornerstones of Malaysian culture. We went with laksa lemak, mutton briyani, mango kerabu & prawn fritters, rounding up the meal with sago gula melaka & pengat pisang. Every dish was prepared with love, the flavours shone through, and the location, though small, was simply beautiful.
