Thai, Non-Halal
Lao Thai 5 to 9 in Puchong has been on my radar since Chiefeater Steven C T Tea wrote about it, but it wasn’t until recently that I finally had the chance to visit. Stepping into the restaurant, I was greeted by a Thai ambiance and the inviting whiff of seafood.
Opting for a variety of dishes to sample the menu, we found ourselves with quite the spread: white tomyam with fish maw, glass noodle with minced pork salad, mango lemon chicken, fried kailan with salted fish, and an oyster fried egg. As the dishes arrived, it became clear that we might have gone overboard with our order, but we were excited nonetheless.

Among the dishes, the oyster fried egg stood out as a personal favourite. The combination of plump oysters nestled within a fluffy egg omelette was delightful, bursting with flavour with each bite. Additionally, the freshness of the seafood in all the dishes was evident, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal.

Despite our initial concern about over-ordering, we managed to savour each dish and actually finished 3 of the dishes. The vibrant flavours that Thai cuisine is known for certainly aided us. And for those we couldn’t finish, we were grateful for the option to take them home in a doggy bag, extending the enjoyment to another meal.
When the bill arrived, we found it to be reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food we had enjoyed. At RM250 for five dishes and drinks, it was a satisfying dining experience that left us eager to return and explore more of the offering at Laos Thai 5 to 9 Puchong.
