Western, Lamb
The Lamb & Daikon Stew at Luckee Cafe Bar Puchong was exactly the sort of dish I needed at the end of the week. Rich, comforting and substantial, this was easily the highlight of dinner.
We started with the Rainbow Harvest Salad. It certainly lives up to the name, arriving as a rather colourful plate of lettuce, apple, cherry tomatoes, corn, red cabbage, olives, cranberries and cheese, with glazed walnuts adding another texture to the mix.

It was a good starter. There was plenty going on, but the combination of fresh vegetables and fruit kept things light enough before the much heavier main course arrived.
The Lamb & Daikon Stew was a sizeable dish and one I’d happily order again.

What made it work for me was the daikon. Those thick pieces had been allowed to sit in the stew long enough to soak up the dark, savoury gravy while becoming wonderfully soft. The lamb itself was tender, with the richness of the meat carrying through the gravy.

It is proper comfort food, especially when you get a spoonful of lamb, daikon and gravy together.
We finished with the Whisky Salted Caramel.

There’s another side to Luckee that becomes apparent when you look around the place.
The cafe occupies a spacious, high-ceilinged premises with different seating areas and plenty of room for groups. Luckee also actively offers cafe buffet catering, and the space lends itself rather nicely to gatherings and events. It should be able to take groups of 50 pax adequately.

So while I came here for dinner, I can see why someone might consider Luckee for a private gathering or casual event as well.
For me, though, dinner gave me one very good reason to return: that Lamb & Daikon Stew.

The RM68 Lamb & Daikon Stew isn’t inexpensive, but it is a generous, hearty dish and the one I’d return for. The RM22 salad was also a substantial starter rather than an afterthought.
V – Venue: 8.5/10
Luckee has character. The high ceiling, spacious layout and different seating areas give it a more distinctive feel than the typical shoplot cafe. The space also works well for groups and events.
X – X-Factor: 8.5/10
The Lamb & Daikon Stew did it for me. Tender lamb, daikon that had absorbed all that savoury gravy, and the sort of comforting flavours that stay in your mind after dinner.
