Yong Tau Foo, Street Food
We visited Restoran Sg Way Hakka Yong Tau Foo to try the YTF we had heard about from Chiefeater Yew Hoong.

We had ordered 11 pieces of YTF alongside a plate of Chee Cheong Fun. When the dishes arrived, the immediate victory was the generous scale of each item. More importantly, the texture of the fish paste filling was beautifully springy.

A close inspection reveals microscopic air holes pockets inside the paste—a telltale signature of handmade execution. These holes appear when the fish paste is aggressively thrown and slapped against the mixing bowl during preparation, a traditional method that traps tiny pockets of air while realigning the proteins to create that highly coveted, dense bouncy bite.

The accompanying components held their ground well. The plain Chee Cheong Fun, dusted with sesame seeds, provided a smooth, silky foil to the savory, broth-soaked pieces. At RM2.50 for the majority of the hefty pieces, it offers an honest good value lunch experience that completely honors its roots.

The only minus is that parking is almost impossible and the place can get hot, though they have coolers.
Bitter Gourd – RM5 for 2 pieces
Brinjal – RM5 for 2 pieces
Lady Finger – RM5 for 2 pieces
Tau Pok – RM5 for 2 pieces
White Tofu – RM3 for 1 piece
Chee Cheong Fun – RM3.50
Total: RM37.50
Average per pax: RM18.75 (2 pax)
MVX Score
7.3/10
M – Meal Value
For a grand total of RM37.50 that leaves two diners completely sated, the value is phenomenal. Getting hand-slapped, chunky proteins at these numbers represents a high-utility neighborhood win that easily beats commercial franchise pricing.
Score: 8.0/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The layout is basic, pristine, and entirely unpretentious, functioning as a high-volume daylight lunch spot. It captures a steady, comforting neighborhood flow where tables turn over quickly.
Score: 6.0/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor is the air-pocketed texture of the filling. Seeing visual proof of hand-thrown fish paste that translates directly into a bouncy, springy mouthfeel delivers a level of artisan satisfaction you rarely find at this price bracket.
Score: 8.0/10
