Restoran Wun Nam Homemade Recipe Dinner

Chiefeater VK found the claypot lard rice, salted egg squid, and family-style Cantonese cooking make Restoran Wun Nam a standout

Indian, Pork-Free
I ordered a variety of dishes from Mell Banana Leaf Restaurant via food delivery. This included Mutton Peratal, Chicken Varuval, Fried Snake Gourd, and a side of Fish Curry. While the flavour profiles of the meats were spot-on, the textures left much to be desired. The mutton was exceedingly chewy and lacked tenderness, making it a challenge to enjoy. Similarly, the chicken varuval, though flavourful, suffered from being too hard and dry. It was a disappointing letdown for such typically rich and comforting dishes.

The fried snake gourd, on the other hand, was pleasant — crispy and well-seasoned, offering a good vegetarian contrast.

The fish curry, ordered as a curry-only option, provided a tangy, spiced accompaniment that went well with the meal, but it couldn’t entirely save the lacklustre experience of the main meats.
Prices were as follows:
Mutton Peratal: RM24.90
Fish Curry (curry only): RM2.50
Chicken Varuval: RM16.90
Snake Gourd Fry: RM3.50
House Thosai: RM2.50
The thosai, priced modestly at RM2.50, was decent but unremarkable.
