Japanese, Udon, Non-Halal
Jen loves udon, so I decided to take her to Miyatake Sanuki Udon at TRX, a spot known for its handmade udon noodles. She went for the Asari Udon, and from the first taste, it was clear this dish was something special.

The broth was light but still packed with flavour, balancing the delicate sweetness of the fresh clams perfectly. However, it was the udon itself that truly shone. A good udon should have that ideal balance of firmness and chew, with just enough spring to give it texture while still being smooth as you slurp it up. Miyatake’s udon hit all the right notes for Jen—it was everything she could want in a bowl of udon.

I decided to try the Fried Shrimp Katsu Udon, which, while delicious, didn’t quite reach the heights of the Asari Udon. The shrimp katsu was crispy and the udon noodles held up well, but I found myself envious of Jen’s lighter, more nuanced dish. The Asari Udon had a perfect harmony between broth and noodle, and its simplicity allowed the quality of the ingredients to really shine. My katsu added a nice crunch, but overall, the more delicate flavours of the Asari left a longer-lasting impression.

Miyatake Sanuki Udon certainly proved why it’s such a popular spot for udon lovers, and I think we’ll definitely be back—especially for that Asari Udon!
