Chiefeater Irene Loong had some Vietnamese food at Food Point Kopitiam in United Point
Chinese, Fish, Non-Halal
I had lunch with Chiefeater AS Lim, her son, and Chiefeater Discus Dono, at New Mun Kee Steam Fish Head at Happy Garden, OUG. We ordered 2 steamed fish heads (cheng jing and nyonya asam) and kangkung belacan. The steamed fish was fresh and had thick flesh. The dishes were not too salty, as observed by Chiefeater AS Lim.
The cheng jing fish was not overpowered by spicy ginger and the nyonya asam fish head had the right combination of sour and spicy flavours (mild and suitable for the average Chinese palate). For drinks, we ordered a pot of kok poh tea for sharing.
Cheng jing steamed fish head
Nyonya asam steamed fish head
Kangkung belacan
We all enjoyed the meal and Chiefeater Discus Dono polished off the fish heads and licked the bones clean!
The bill came up to RM111.30, which was around RM28 per pax, quite reasonable for a fish meal. We will be back!
