Mee Pok
It’s been quite a while since I last stepped into Oriental Kopi Puchong. The crowd has noticeably thinned, gone are the long queues from when they first opened, but the food still holds its own in certain aspects. This time, I opted for something I hadn’t tried before: the Dry Curry Chicken Mee Pok (RM13.90).

It turned out to be a satisfying choice. The mee pok was cooked just right, with a firm, al-dente bite that made every mouthful enjoyable. The curry chicken, thankfully, retained its familiar appeal: thick, spicy, and robust, the kind that clings beautifully to the noodles and coats your palate with heat and depth. There’s a consistency in the flavour that regulars of Oriental Kopi Puchong will recognise and appreciate.

Jen’s chicken rice tasted good too. The bean sprouts were crunchy. The rice was fragrant and firm.

I enjoyed my butter kopi.

However, not everything impressed. The service isn’t quite what it used to be. I remember when they had student staff who were quick, courteous, and attentive. These days, the front-of-house team seems less engaged. What also took away from the experience was the presence of flies in the outlet, which made dining in less hygienic than expected. And the flies are such a major distraction, I don’t think I will be back there anytime soon.
