Lobster Yee Mee, Deep Fried Soon Hock, Non-Halal
Peach Garden at Thomson Plaza surprised me after years of giving it a chance. This time around, I decided to dive deeper into their menu and opted for what I considered the safest choices: deep-fried Soon Hock and lobster noodles.
Other dishes I ordered

The lobster used was the Australian spiny lobster, which lacks claws due to being found in warmer waters. The yee mee noodles were my go-to choice for soaking up all the delicious juices, and this version was springy and full of umami flavours. The lobster was prepared differently than usual. It was braised and charred in a savoury brown sauce instead of the typical ginger and scallion style. The lobster meat was succulent and perfectly cooked, avoiding any rubbery texture.

As for the deep-fried Soon Hock, it was above average and a safe choice for a neighbourhood diner. While the soy sauce used wasn’t as fragrant as what I might find at Imperial Treasure, it came close enough to satisfy.

Overall, Peach Garden exceeded my expectations this time around, and the element of surprise definitely contributed to making these dishes feel above average. The total bill came to SGD328 for three people, which I found reasonable for the quality and portions served. If you’re in the Thomson Plaza area and looking for Chinese cuisine, Peach Garden Thomson Plaza is worth a visit for a satisfying meal.
