Steak, Non-Halal
R40 is for meat lovers. That is, two lovers who really like to eat meat. Carnivores can have a pretty steamy date night in Long Island City at this Argentinian BBQ restaurant, which feels like a fancy getaway house upstate with woodsy candlelit interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a greenhouse-like back patio. A wine cellar, visible under a glass floor, adds to that fantasy.
My sister and brother in law, Who has been living in Queens for as long as they can remember - brought us to R40. We had the mussels with Spanish chorizo, wood fired octopus, basket of empanadas (blue shrimp & crab, beef and mushroom), potato gnocchi in chili pork ragu, wood-fired parrillada for two (skirt steak, short ribs, chorizo, chicken thighs) and whole grilled red snapper.

The red snapper was slightly overcooked, 6/10 - and we had to wait for it (45 mins).
The mussels in chorizo sauce was good albeit a little salty 6.5/10.
The best was the parrillada platter - the short ribs and skirt steak was juicy at 6.5/10

Overall, a good 6/10 experience with family - the laughter and camaraderie on a chilly night was well worth it. Total damage USD500 for 6 pax including 2 bottles of wine and a cocktail.
