Banana Leaf Rice, Indian, Pork-Free
today's lunch at a newly opened restaurant, Rempah Ratus Penang. @rempah ratus at nagore rd. opened on 31 july. south indian cuisine. i took the thaali set (RM10), plus two side dishes - chicken chettinad (RM13) and pepper prawn with cashew nut (RM16). actually wanted to try the claypot dish but i mistakenly thought the chicken chettinad is in claypot. also actually i don't want the thali set. i want only rice with dishes but i thought have to order the thali set rice to get the rice.
oh well never mind, first time there, so not sure of how/what to order. next time will be wiser. anyway al that i order were quite delicious, so good enough. the 7 dishes with the thali set, i did finish up all of them except the er.... green mint?... dunno what it is called.
actually the rice in the bowl, i was suppose to pour it into the banana leaf plate but i didn't. silly me. never thought of that at that time. but it's ok as it's good to have the rice in bowl since i want to pour in the curry to 'banjir' the rice.
having try masala and varuval chicken before and not chettinad chicken, so i decided to try it. it was good as it had so many spices. i ate only half of it with rice, the other half by itself.
as for the pepper prawns with cashew nut, i finish all of them with the rice. the cashew nut were cut into small pcs and not hard, which is good for me as usually i try to avoid food with cashew nut, fear of the nut being hard to eat. the prawns were delicious covered with pepper and i notice some dried chilly too. i didn't count how many prawns as some were buried with the cashew nuts together. might be 5 prawns.
methink this meal would be good enough for two and i alone too it - that's why i am so full even until now, dinner time. no need take dinner then.
oh for the drink, i took the popular masala chai (RM6) and it was good. only think is they should give us a stirrer as after drinking until near to the last drop, i notice the spices and sugar at the bottom.
for the damage to my full meal, it was RM45 for all the items above.
