Fried Sui Kow, Street Food, Non-Halal
My friend had asked about where to eat Claypot Chicken Rice weeks earlier and then I developed a craving for it. Shi Yue Tien is a Puchong Claypot Chicken Rice institution that has been around for years. They began in a new village house in Taman Kandan. Over time, they opened a branch in Puchong Jaya and then moved into a shop lot at Taman Bukit Kuchai. What I did not know is that the Claypot Chicken Rice only starts being offered at 3:30 pm and I was there at 1 pm.
Instead, a foodcourt operates at the same location from the morning to about 2 pm. Since there was a variety of food items available, we decided to have that instead. Our main orders were Char Kuey Teow and Pan Mee.
The Char Kuey Teow (KL type) looked like it had a good wok hei (could smell the aroma) so I decided to give it a go. Rather than serve it with prawns or fish cake, she served her Char Kuey Teow with pork slices. So if you are interested something different for your CKT, this could be the place to experiment. Each plate costs RM8 and the stall owner only accepts cash.

The Pan Mee (RM8), was quite ordinary. However, what caught Jen’s eye there was the Fried Sui Kow that the stall offered. So we decided to order that after our main meals and we are so glad we did.

The Fried Sui Kow was big and voluminous. It was fried to a nice golden colour and looked so appetising. Let it cool before you bite into it because it’s freshly fried so it’s stinging hot. The Sui Kow was generously stuffed with pork meat, diced mushroom, carrots and turnip. There’s another ingredient that I can’t quite get my taste buds to home in on. The combination of seasoning and stuffing was the winner that saved lunch. RM8.50 for a plate of 5 Fried Sui Kow is a steal. The lady beside us not only ordered the fried ones but also Sui Kow in soup.

The Fried Sui Kow at Shi Yue Tien is of the best finds so far!
