Sin Lam Hooi Cafe Fried Rice
Fried Rice, Street Food, Non-Halal

Chiefeater Russ King Karl and friends enjoyed some fried rice at Sin Lam Hooi Cafe and found the potions to be very big
Dim Sum, Non-Halal
Jen discovered Shon Kok Kee Dim Sum on a delivery app and decided to order dim sum for breakfast. We went for the staples, siew mai and har gow, along with a few extras like scallop dumplings, Hong Kong chee cheong fun, and char siew bao.
While the variety was promising, the experience left us wanting. Perhaps dim sum isn’t the ideal dish for delivery. The subtle textures and delicate flavours that make dim sum so enjoyable just didn’t seem to translate well after the travel time. The siew mai and har gow were decent, but lacked the freshness and warmth you expect from a good dim sum experience. The scallop dumplings and chee cheong fun, while flavourful, suffered from the same fate.
It could be that this delivery version didn’t do the dim sum from Shon Kok Kee Dim Sum justice. I certanly hope it is not a reflection of Ipoh’s dim sum scene.
