StapleDough at Megah Rise has a relatively limited menu. But what they have, they do it well. The pasta that is served there is hand made at the restaurant itself. Jen ordered a salmon carpaccio (RM29++), which she thoroughly enjoyed. The flavours between the dressing, capers, shallots and the cured salmon integrated so well. None of the flavours shouted over one another.
I ordered a Pappardelle Pork Ragu (RM36++). The ragu was made of pulled pork, red wine and tomato with topping of grand padano cheese. Pappardelle is the wider and thicker cousin of fettuccine. It has a satisfying chewiness that comes from its thickness and the way it holds onto sauces and other ingredients. That's why it perfectly complements a thick sauce like a ragu. The ragu was filled with meaty goodness and well seasoned. This was a dish with a nice bite. I had a glass of red wine to go with the ragu.
Finally, we rounded lunch off with an apple crumble topped with a 2 dollops of ice cream. The apple crumble was well, crumbled. Jen enjoyed this. Judging by the quietness of the StapleDough, in comparison to their neighbours at Megah Rise, it looks like many people don't know about this gem yet.
