Over the weekend, I took my mother and mother-in-law for a stroll around Kwai Chai Hong and Petaling Street. We wandered slowly under the red lanterns of the old streets and stopped at a culturally artistic spot to take photos. I took many pictures of both mothers; seeing them smile so happily made every shot feel full of warmth. On the way home, we made a special stop at Taman Pertama, Cheras, to have dinner at the long-established Tai Thong Seafood Restaurant.
The restaurant was packed with diners both inside and out, creating a very lively atmosphere. We were very lucky to get a table immediately just as someone was paying to leave!
The must-order Signature Sauce Steamed Tilapia arrived with a mouth-watering aroma. The signature sauce is rich and sweet, seeping perfectly into the thick, fresh, and tender fish meat. The steaming technique is spot on, truly living up to its reputation as a house specialty.
The Braised Pig Trotter, a popular dish during the Lunar New Year, is also a must-have. The soft, gelatinous skin melts in your mouth, while the lean meat pulls apart easily. The thick, fragrant gravy coats every bite, making it the perfect companion for rice—a classic flavor in my heart.
We added the Signature Tofu and a plate of Stir-fried Sweet Potato Leaves for a simple yet comfortable meal. The four of us ate while scrolling through the photos we had just taken, filled with constant laughter.
A night like this isn’t just about eating a good meal; it’s about keeping family time in our memories.
