Located on the 15th floor of the new wing of Sunway Hospital, The Dining Room Sunway Sanctuarywas a surprise find. We hadn’t expected to stumble upon a restaurant here, let alone one with a polished ambience and a rather splendid view of Sunway. It felt removed from the bustle, which made the discovery all the more pleasant.
I ordered the Beef Bourguignonne (RM39), served in a cast iron pan, accompanied by slices of toasted grain bread and a small side salad. The dish itself was hearty and comforting. The sauce — or perhaps more accurately, the broth — was rich and deeply flavoured. It had all the hallmarks of slow cooking, with the beef loin tender and infused with the dark gravy.
The vegetables, including asparagus and snow peas, added a nice contrast in both texture and colour. I enjoyed mopping up the gravy with the crusty bread, which held up well against the richness of the stew. There was a side of salad that came with my dish.
Jen opted for the Pan-Fried Saba Fish Fillet (RM32). It came with a kimchi cream sauce that she thought complemented the oily flesh of the fish quite nicely. She appreciated the tanginess of it.
For a weekday set lunch, this turned out to be a rather elevated experience — one that exceeded our initial expectations. The view, the plating, the flavours and the hotel level service combined for a meal that felt more special than what one might anticipate.
This place is also a great place for events. 2 private rooms and even a dining room that can take 100 pax.
