Hakka Mee, Char Siew, Roast Pork, Non-Halal
I dad a delightful lunch at TNR by Sean & Angie, courtesy of a friend who was buying lunch today. I had their Lat Jiu Hakka Mee together with their signature roast pork and char siew. If you take the Lat Jiu Hakka Mee, let me give you a word of caution with regard to the chili powder. While they provide a generous amount of it, it’s wise to use it sparingly. Even a small sprinkle adds a fiery kick that sets the taste buds on fire. So add it in to what you can endure.

The roast pork. Crispy and delectable, it struck the perfect balance between tender lean meat and indulgent fat. Every bite offered a satisfying crunch followed by an explosion of rich flavours.

The char siew didn’t disappoint either. Its caramelized exterior lent a pleasant sweetness that beautifully complemented the savoury notes. This careful balance of flavours made the dish a delight. The luscious sheen in no small way added to the delectability of the char siew.

TNR by Sean & Angie was founded by the husband and wife team of Sean and Angie years ago. Today their next generation is also helping out in the business and they have exciting plans to expand their business. I am also looking forward to them coming out with a regular batch of their Guinness infused char siew which was such a hit at the Guinness Flavour by Fire Festival in mid August 2023. That’s Sean and Angie on the far left of the photo below.
