I have dined at many Traveling Duck outlets but this was my first visit to the Traveling Duck Pavilion Damansara Heights. This situation was remedied by an invitation from Chiefeater Don Song to have lunch there. True to his reputation, he introduced me to two new dishes that I had yet to try: curry fish and fu chuk soup.
The XO Sauce Stewed Grouper Fish Head with beancurd puff and eggplant (RM138) was an impressive dish. The thick, well-seasoned gravy was deeply savoury, pairing wonderfully with steamed rice. The fish itself was expertly prepared, retaining its firm yet tender texture, absorbing the bold and fragrant curry sauce.
The fu chuk soup had smooth, delicate beancurd sheets soaked up the flavours of the soup beautifully, making it a comforting yet underrated dish.
The staple. The roast duck from Ireland. However, the taste was overshadowed by the curry during this meal.
