Ru Ji Kitchen Fish Ball Mee
Fish Ball Noodles, Street Food
The fish balls at Ru Ji Kitchen may be inconsistently shaped but Chiefeater Luke Soon found that there is bouncy delight in this asymmetry

Char Kuey Teow, Street Food
Finding a good plate of Char Kuey Teow often starts with seeing who is behind the stove, and at Unique 88 Kopitiam, it is fried by an elder local gentleman. This inspired enough confidence in me to order a plate, and it did not disappoint.

It was a very enjoyable plate of noodles. The siham (cockles) were notably plump and well-prepared, while the prawns were fresh, though the serving was limited to just two pieces. For RM10, it is a generously sized portion that I finished completely clean.

Char Kuey Teow (Small): RM10.00
Char Kuey Teow (Large): RM12.00
Optional Add-ons: Fried Egg (RM1.50), Prawn (RM4.00), Siham (RM4.00)
Average Spend: RM10.00 per pax
Score: 7.8/10
M – Meal Value
At RM10 for a hearty portion that includes fresh prawns and plump cockles, the value is excellent for a neighborhood kopitiam.
Score: 8.0/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The kopitiam offers a typical, bustling local atmosphere. It is a straightforward, no-frills environment though the ventilation within the kopitiam is stagnant and could be rather hot in the afternoon.
Score: 6.5/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor is the confidence-inspiring traditional preparation. Having a local veteran at the wok often translates to a better “wok hei” and a more authentic flavor.
Score: 8.0/10
