Chicken Chop, Non-Halal
There are days when you want comfort food that reminds you of places and times past. Ground Eatery delivered on all counts with their lovely chicken chop in a Hainanese-style sauce. As I savored each bite, memories of old coffeeshops flooded my mind, reminiscent of days gone by.
The star of the dish was a generous chunk of chicken, boasting a perfect balance of meatiness and juiciness. Encased in a delectable batter, it struck the right chord with its satisfying crunch, without being overwhelming with oil.
The sauce accompanying the chicken chop was truly delightful. Get ready for a nostalgia trip: with its slightly sweet and tangy notes, blending hints of tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce, it added a charming twist to the dish. Very few modern chicken chop iterations get the old-style sauce right.
A welcome departure from the conventional, the chicken chop was accompanied by well-roasted potato wedges instead of fries. Sometimes it's nice to cut down potential calories even while you're feasting. The fluffy insides paired beautifully with the crisp outer layer, offering a nice contrast of textures.
The best part of all this was the unbeatable weekday lunch deal. Priced at just RM16.90+, it included the chicken chop and a refreshing iced lemon tea, making it one of the most satisfying and affordable options in town.
My companion had Grilled Lemongrass Chicken with Balinese Sambal Matah Rice Bowl which was also RM16.90+ for a lunch set. They enjoyed the tanginess from the sambal sauce and hints of lemongrass from the chicken. It's great if you're looking for lots of tasty protein in a bowl, thanks to the big chunk of chicken and the fried egg on top.
