Big Breakfast, Coffee, Pork-Free
I’ve heard great things about 103 Coffee over the years but had never visited their original outlet in Sri Petaling until recently. Located in Sri Petaling, the traffic, the almost non-existent parking there and the distance from any train station contributes to keeping me away. But that was finally remedied one weekday morning when we happened to be in Sri Petaling.
Stepping inside, we were given a choice to sit either upstairs or on the ground floor. I like that they gave us a choice. Every table on the ground floor was occupied once they seated us, a testament to 103 Coffee’s popularity.
We started with breakfast – I opted for the Breakie (RM27.26++) while Jen had the Yaki Salmon Dashi Udon (RM18.77++). Both looked and tasted delicious.
Jen’s choice, the Yaki Salmon Dashi Udon was flavourful. She describes the udon as just having the right texture for a soft bite and also soaked long enough that the dashi broth had permeated into the noodle.

The Breakie was a generous portion of scrambled eggs, 2 succulent and tasty chicken sausages and half a creamy avocado piled on top of a sourdough toast. Every ingredient was tasty and well seasoned. Even the condiments like the white peppercorn that they used at 103 Coffee was aromatic. This was a hearty breakfast to say the least.

Of course, the star of the show was the coffee. Diners are given a choice of either Classic or Fruity. I went with their Classic which carried an appropriate blend name – After Meal. The blend accompanied our dishes with elegance. As I savoured the coffee’s rich nuances, notes of chocolate, cocoa, and dark ripe fruit danced on my palate. The flavour of dark ripe fruit in coffee revealed itself in a nuanced burst of sweetness and complexity, adding depth to the coffee’s profile.

Service was friendly and prompt despite the busy morning crowd. At around RM87 for two full breakfasts and coffees, it’s certainly not cheap but worth it for the quality.
They have a private area here separated from the main dining area by a curtain. The area / room sits 8 to 10 pax and requires a minimum spending of RM500 to book it for 2 hours.
