First Xishuangbanna Authentic Cuisine Restaurant in Johor Bahru. Xishuangbanna Kitchen, located in Taman Molek, is a restaurant specializing in Yunnan cuisine. It has been in business for about half a year now and occupies a corner shop. It's likely the first Xishuangbanna cuisine restaurant in Johor Bahru. The restaurant's owner and head chef are both from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan. As a result, the dishes here have an extremely authentic taste. Xishuangbanna is one of the 8 autonomous prefectures in Yunnan Province, China, and it's also the birthplace of China's famous Pu'er tea.
The population is mainly composed of the Dai ethnic group, and the cuisine is characterized by being sour, spicy, and bitter. In Yunnan cuisine, Dai-style dishes enjoy a great reputation,
often using wild-cultivated plants as spices and frequently accompanied by homemade dipping sauces.
If it's your first time here and you're unsure what to order, why not try some of the recommended dishes.
Just like what we tried:
Refreshing Wood Ear Mushroom Salad, Yunnan Sour Fish Soup (sour and spicy, perfect with rice),
Yunnan Spicy Chicken, Yunnan Clear Beef Soup, Yunnan Wild Orchid Chicken Soup, Yunnan Stir-fried Pork.
Of course, you can't miss a pot of Pu'er tea. The prices here are reasonable, and the portions are generous.
Private rooms can be reserved with a minimum spending. My first tasting experience here left me quite impressive.
