Chiefeater Pat Lim shares a dinner stop at Jia Xiang Corner in Raub after a long drive from Kota Baru

Chicken Porridge, Street Food, Non-Halal
Many people including yours truly love porridge as it is a light comfort food that brings a feeling of satisfaction with each spoonful. Personally, the chicken porridge offered at Sheng Yi Food Court by the affable Ms Joanne Chee at this stall is very delectable. The porridge which has been boiled in chicken stock for hours is delicate and silky smooth. Equally delightful is the juicy poached chicken (pek cham kay) which is available as a side dish.
My special order, skinless chicken breast meat, soft, juicy and melts in the mouth.

Poached chicken (pek cham kay), nicely prepared, tender and succulent.

A big pot of the porridge that has been boiled in chicken stock for hours.

Ms Joanne learnt the trade from her father who previously sold this dish in Kedai Kopi Cathay in Jalan Tavoy for many years before retiring.

Pricing

Sheng Yi Food Court may be a little out of the way for many people. However, if you love porridge or congee you will not regret looking for it amidst the densely populated high-rise apartments in the area.
