Bak Kut Teh, Non-Halal
Shun Heng Bak Kut Teh operates in a spacious and well-ventilated setting and with that our choice for lunch was made. With the rising cases of COVID cases, we felt that this was a good place to have lunch where the restaurant is not packed with too many people.
The Bak Kut Teh here opted for a peppery profile that sets it apart from the traditional herb-heavy counterparts. If you are into herb filled BKT, this will not be your preference. The broth, a comforting blend of warmth, enveloped every piece of fresh pork with a flavourful embrace. The meat, both firm and tender, attested to the quality of the ingredients.

To complement the Bak Kut Teh, we indulged in a medley of sides. The stir-fried iceberg lettuce added a crisp freshness to the meal. The Yau Char Kwai or Chinese Crullers provided a delightful crunch, perfect for dunking into the aromatic broth.

However, stealing the limelight was the Mustard Leaf Rice. It could be a stand alone in its excellence. Fragrant, fluffy, and subtly infused with the essence of mustard leaf, it elevated the entire dining experience.

Our entire meal with a pot of tea amounted to RM71.20 for two. A bit pricey but the meat quality was good and I appreciate that.
