Shanghai, Dim Sum, Non-Halal
Shanghai Street Puchong is a recently opened restaurant in Bandar Puteri Puchong. Its decor and menu suggests that it would transport diners to the vibrant streets of Shanghai with its Shanghai style dim sum and noodles.
Unlike Cantonese dim sum, which is often characterized by steamed and fried dishes, Shanghai dim sum features a diverse array of dishes, including dumplings, buns, and noodles. That is evident in the menu here. I ordered the 韭菜煎饺 Leek Guo Tie, 弄堂生煎包 Fried Buns, 上海传统糯米烧麦 Traditional Shanghai Shao Mai, 酸豆角包 Steamed Pickled Sour Bean Bun and 猪肉蒸饺 Steamed Pork Dumpling.
The food arrived very slowly. I would like to think it's a testament to its freshly made nature and dedication to quality. It could be that they are had just opened for the day since I arrived only 15 minutes after they opened their doors. Or it could be that they are still getting their operations up to speed.
One dish that stood out was the Steamed Pickled Sour Bean Bun. It was a delightful concoction of fluffy steamed bun filled with a fiery blend of savoury spices. The first bite sent a burst of flavour dancing across my palate, with the subtle sweetness of the bun giving way to the bold heat of the spices.
Total bill for the 2 of us came up to RM46.80
