Heard some good reviews about Great China Restaurant, so decided to have dinner there. Also read that restaurant is the latest venture of "Cheong Gor", renowned for his time as the head chef at the Oversea Restaurant group. Place was crowded when got there but was lucky to get a table for 4 despite not making any reservation. Fortunate to also get a parking in front of the restaurant.
The Braised Sliced Pork Belly with Salted Fish in Claypot was excellent. The pork belly was lean and thinly sliced. It was tender and crispy at the same time, with the perfect combination of salted fish and dried chillies.
The Braised Homemade Beancurd with Petola was equally delicious and well done. The beancurd was braised in a deeply savory sauce and had a firm texture.
The Chicken with Chinese Wine was flavourful and aromatic. The wine was well balance and it did not have the overbearing wine smell. The ginger gave it the oomph to provide delightful fragrance to the dish.
Braised Eggplant with Belacan was tender in a sweet spicy of minced meat & dried shrimps. This beautifully delicious sweet and spicy concoction is simply lip-smacking.
Environment was nice (as we sat inside the restaurant which was air condition - there were also tables outside the restaurant (fresh air). Hence a reservation would be best. Prices are a little on the higher side.
