Dim Sum, Pork-Free
Venturing out for lunch with a friend in Puchong, we found ourselves pondering our dining options. Luckbros Puchong, known for its pork-free Chinese cuisine and dim sum, caught our attention as a place worth exploring. While it might seem like a bold move in a predominantly meat-loving area like Puchong, it certainly piqued our curiosity.
Opting for the Nasi Lemak Panggong Ayam Goreng (RM18.90) accompanied by a bottomless kopi (for an additional RM2.99), I was excited to dig in. However, the excitement waned as I found the ikan bilis lacking the desired crunch, and the fried chicken, albeit visually appealing, was disappointingly tough and lacked flavour. The sambal and curry carried a sweetness, catering to those with a sweet tooth. Certainly not my preference.

Thankfully, I had ordered some dim sum too. The pan-fried radish cake turned out to be too hard for my liking, while the shrimp-based siew mai fared relatively better, offering a satisfactory flavour profile. However, the har gow raised some eyebrows with its peculiar pink hue, leaving us puzzled about its origin. Strange colouring aside, the har gow tasted decent.

Then came the Hong Kong chee cheong fun with BBQ chicken to the rescue. The chee cheong fun's delicate, translucent skin enveloped the succulent BBQ chicken. Paired with the savoury sambal that came with the dish, it delivered a burst of flavour that redeemed the meal and left us satisfied.

They have 4 private rooms upstairs which would be great for business lunch or dinners. Or perhaps even a small birthday party. Pictures taken from their website.

Luckbros Puchong has not received a halal status yet from JAKIM but their original outlet in KL Chinatown is halal-certified.
