Dim Sum, Non-Halal
I recently found out from Chiefeater Yuet Meng Wong that Odette Music Restaurant had reopened at Pusat Bandar Puchong and was now serving dim sum from 7 am to 3 pm. Dim Sum is one my favourites, so I decided to pay them a visit and try out their offerings.
I started with the basics — Siew Mai and Har Gao (both priced at RM12). The Har Gao, in particular, stood out for its exceptional quality. What makes an amazing Har Gao is the delicate balance between the translucent, thin yet sturdy dumpling skin and the plump, juicy shrimp filling inside. The shrimp should be fresh, flavourful, and ideally have a hint of sweetness. The Har Gao at Odette Music Restaurant met these criteria perfectly, making it a standout dish. I did not even dip it in the chili sauce.
While the Siew Mai was decent, I found its taste profile slightly lacking compared to the outstanding Har Gao. Nevertheless, it is still better than many of the offerings I have had in Puchong. However, the pumpkin pancake was a delightful surprise. The pancake was beautifully crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and with a taste that was not overly sweet.
The Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun's rice roll skin was expertly made. Thin, smooth and translucent. Although I wasn't a fan of their char siew filling, I believe a prawn-filled Chee Cheong Fun would likely be a better choice. That's what I plan to try on an upcoming visit.
The restaurant is designed to host events and it looks like it can host 150 pax comfortably.
