Hakka, Non-Halal
Hakka Passion is my favourite Hakka restaurant in Puchong, It’s new location which brings it closer to me is a welcomed development. Dinner here was a comforting feast of traditional Hakka dishes.
We started with the Hakka abacus 客家算盘子 (RM24). This is a classic dish of yam gnocchi, stir-fried with minced pork and dried shrimp. The texture of the abacus seeds was chewy yet tender, and the taste was spot on. Not overpowering. This is a dish I like eating by itself.

The braised pork and yam (RM34) was another standout, with layers of tender pork belly perfectly balanced by the soft, creamy yam. The flavours were rich and savoury, a lovely dish that paired beautifully with rice.

The tofu in pumpkin sauce (RM24) was a delightful surprise. The velvety pumpkin sauce had a natural sweetness that complemented the silky tofu, creating a harmonious and comforting dish.

The braised sea cucumber (RM118) was an indulgent treat, but no regrets here. This dish offered a luxurious texture in a flavourful sauce that was deeply satisfying.

We also had stir-fried vegetables (RM30), which provided a refreshing contrast with their vibrant crunch and light seasoning.

We also had a plate of stir fried Hakka noodles (RM13). This dish was perhaps a miss in terms of noodle texture though not in terms of taste.

Our bill for 4 pax came up to RM268.
PSA – Do bear with the service at Hakka Passion. They are still bringing their wait staff up to mark at the time of writing (Dec 2024).
They now have 2 private rooms that 10 pax each. The 2 rooms can be combined into a single one that can take 20 pax.
Starting from RM518+ for a 4 to 5 pax Chinese New Year set. And ranging up to RM1,488+ for a 12 pax set.
