Chicken Chop, Non-Halal
Restoran Sin Kee is one of the OG Hainanese restaurants in KL, having been around since 1968. With a reputation built over decades, it still serves some of the classic favourites that define Hainanese cuisine in Malaysia, including the ever-popular Hainanese Chicken Chop and Mun Fan.
We arrived just before 12:30 PM, and the outlet was already filling up fast. Given the rush, the best times to visit seem to be before 12:30 PM or after 1:30 PM, unless you don’t mind waiting.
As for the food, both dishes stayed true to the old-school style, but somehow lacked the punch expected from such a storied establishment. The Hainanese Chicken Chop came with the signature brown sauce, a staple of this dish. While the chicken itself was decent, the overall taste was surprisingly bland—the sauce, which should be rich and savoury, failed to lift the dish.

The Mun Fan suffered the same fate. Traditionally a comforting, well-seasoned dish, this version seemed to be missing something—perhaps a lack of seasoning or depth in the sauce. It left the impression that something had been forgotten in the kitchen.

Perhaps the cook had an off day.
