Chiefeater Christine Tan had a quick stop at Qi Bar KL in Jalan Sultan before she headed for her dinner
Taiwanese, Non-Halal
Dropped by Tai Ho Jiak Puchong for dinner, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise for Taiwanese food lovers with a soft spot for bold, savoury flavours and comforting textures.
The Kimchi Pork Rice was a solid pick — thin slices of pork stir-fried with kimchi over a warm bed of rice, topped with scallions and sesame seeds. The spicy-tangy kick of the kimchi paired well with the savoury meat, making every bite satisfyingly punchy without being overwhelming.
The Grilled Taiwanese Dumplings were golden-crisp on the edges, juicy inside, and served with a soy-vinegar dip laced with shredded ginger. The skin was slightly chewy and thin, letting the flavourful meat and chive filling shine.
The Khong Rou Bun leaned on the sweet side — the braised pork was tender and glistening, tucked into a soft steamed bun with just enough fat to make it indulgent. A bit sweet for some, but I quite enjoyed the contrast with the savoury dishes.
No frills, just comforting, well-cooked Taiwanese street food favourites in an air-conditioned setting. Tai Ho Jiak Puchong is good place to wind down and fill up.
