Korean
Does size matter? At Sot Telok Ayer, it might! The new Korean restaurant specialises in dishes cooked tableside over giant gamasot (a.k.a traditional Korean metal pot lids). Ironically, we didn’t go for their famed dak dori tang (spicy chicken stew), or even their jim ddak (braised chicken). We went for the bread and butter grilled bbq pork set.

With Korean fare, the quality of their banchan (side dishes), is a good/bad sign. The kimchi at Sot Telok Ayer got my attention. I loved it – had 3 refills. Pleasant experience as we had a late lunch on a weekend @ Telok Ayer. Which is crowded during weekdays.
Overall 6.5/10

Singaporeans truly are a lucky lot when it comes to Korean food. There are many different Korean concepts to choose from to satisfy almost every type of craving from KBBQ to samgyetang. Well, a new one has just arrived in the form of Sot Telok Ayer.

There are 3 different platters available: Pork BBQ Platter (SGD90), Beef BBQ Platter (SGD120) and Large Intestine (SGD120). Each platter includes Steamed Egg, or gyeran-jjim.
The contents of the platter will then be cooked tableside by a staff member using the lid of a type of traditional Korean cast-iron pot known as a gamasot (가마솥). It can get quite smoky as there are no vents directly over the cooking area, so be prepared to leave smelling like delicious KBBQ.
