Chiefeater Kane Chong shares supper at Foodie Foodie Kuchai, with pulled pork pizza, char kuey teow, shawarma and lekor

Wantan
Lunch at Nanyang Cafe IOI Puchong was a bit of a hit-and-miss affair.
The Pork Chop remains good, maintaining the quality I experienced the last time I tried it. I had it with instant noodles, which were palatable but certainly nothing outstanding, especially given the premium price tag attached to such a simple base. While the pork chop is worth a revisit, the noodle pairings left much to be desired this time around.

I found the tossed noodles to be unfortunately bland. On a more positive note, the Wantan itself was good, as was the savoury soup it was served in.

Pork Chop with Instant Noodles: RM25.90
Prawn Wantan with Tossed Noodles : RM17.90
Total: RM50.80
Average Spend: RM25.40 per pax
Score: 7.17/10
M – Meal Value
While the pork chop is a premium item that largely justifies its cost, the high markup on instant noodles and the blandness of the Wantan Mee impact the overall value proposition. It feels a bit pricey for what is essentially elevated comfort food fare.
Score: 6.5/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The outlet at IOI Mall Puchong offers a bright, bustling, and clean environment typical of the Nanyang Cafe chain. It is a reliable and comfortable spot for a quick mall lunch, though it can get quite noisy during peak hours.
Score: 8.0/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor remains the Signature Crispy Pork Chop and the Prawn Wantan. Even when the accompanying noodles are uninspiring, the execution of the pork — tender on the inside with a perfectly seasoned, crispy exterior.
Score: 7.0/10
