A cold, wet afternoon called for something warm and comforting, and Jiang Nan Restaurant in Taman SEA, Petaling Jaya, delivered just that.
Jiang Nan is a relatively new addition to the Taman SEA dining scene, having opened in October 2025. I had previously heard about the restaurant from fellow Chiefeaters Yew Hoong and Luke Soon, so I was looking forward to giving it a try.
We were welcomed with a bowl of watercress soup, which was particularly enjoyable given the weather outside. It was a simple but thoughtful start to our lunch.

We started with the Stir-Fried Sang Mee (RM26), a plate of egg noodles stir-fried with ingredients including prawns, bean sprouts and vegetables.

The noodles were generously sized and delicious, with good overall flavour. This was a well-executed plate of fried noodles it certainly satisfied.

We also ordered the Stir-Fried Choy Sum with Garlic (RM18). The vegetables were nicely presented, and the dish was equally enjoyable.

However, the standout for both of us was the Lala with Ginger and Spring Onions (RM28). The lala impressed with its freshness, firm texture and flavour. The ginger and spring onions complemented the shellfish, making this the dish we enjoyed most.

It was a straightforward Chinese lunch, but everything we ordered tasted good.
What made the visit even more pleasant was Chris, the restaurant’s manager, who was a friendly host. His hospitality added a personal touch to the dining experience.
The restaurant itself has a clean, contemporary interior, with comfortable-looking seating and large round tables suitable for family meals and group dining. We arrived just before the lunch crowd filled the place up.

The toilet was clean, which is always appreciated.
Parking around Taman SEA can be a bit of a hassle, although that’s a familiar challenge in this neighbourhood. I haven’t factored parking into the venue score.
Our lunch came to RM82 for two people, including Chinese tea. At RM41 per person, I thought it represented good value for a satisfying Chinese meal.
There is also a private dining room that accommodates 10 people, with a minimum spend of RM400 on weekdays and RM600 on weekends. This is a good place to have a small celebration like a birthday party or company meal. Its ground floor location (though the 2 to 3 steps in front is something to take note of) gives it easy access.

Stir-Fried Sang Mee (Egg Noodles, 2 pax) – RM26.00
Lala with Ginger and Spring Onions (Small) – RM28.00
Stir-Fried Choy Sum with Garlic (Small) – RM18.00
Chinese Tea (“Cha Wong”, 2 pax) – RM10.00
Subtotal: RM82.00
Total: RM82.00
Average per pax: RM41.00 (2 diners)
MVX Score: 8.0/10
M – Meal Value
At RM82 for two people, including tea, Jiang Nan offered good value. The stir-fried sang mee and choy sum were both delicious, while the lala stood out for its freshness, firm texture and flavour. A satisfying meal without unnecessary extravagance.
Score: 8.0/10
V – Vibe & Venue
Jiang Nan has a clean, contemporary dining environment with comfortable-looking seating and large round tables. The private dining room is a useful option for gatherings of up to 10 people. The toilet was clean, and Chris’s excellent hospitality made the experience particularly welcoming. Parking can be troublesome around Taman SEA, but no points have been deducted for it.
Score: 7.5/10
X – X-Factor
The freshness and firmness of the lala made it the highlight of our lunch. Chris’s hospitality was another reason the visit stood out. The combination of good food and personal service gives Jiang Nan a compelling reason for a return visit.
Score: 8.5/10
