Banana Leaf Rice, Pork-Free
As someone who hasn’t eaten banana leaf for some time, my expectations are not very high. As such, I really enjoyed my meal here.
This is a more modern version of the typical banana leaf place. There’s a menu, you order by filling out the sheet and they provide forks and spoons to eat with. What? Yes, I know sacrilegious. There’s only one way to eat banana leaf – with your hand!

The fare is minimalist compared to other joints. I really enjoyed the Deep Fried Sotong (RM14.50+) and Bitter Gourd (RM5.90+). The Chicken Varuval (RM9.50+) and the Chicken 65 (RM10.90+) were decent but nothing to shout about.
Apart from the usual dhall and chicken curry, they provided crab curry which was flavorsome. I also enjoyed the chutney provided as one of the 3 vegetable sides.

Chiefeater VK’s comment
I would agree with Chiefeater David Oh that the chicken missed the mark. Both the meat was dry and had lost its succulence. The best dish for me was the Fried Squid / Sotong.
And I ate with fork and spoon. Yes. Sue me for being sacrilegious.
The meal for 2 pax came up to RM79.95.
The + is for the 10% service charge. Their service is courteous and attentive and the 10% is worth it.
