Strolling along Salamanca Market
Street Food
Chiefeater Eddie Low and his travel buddy strolled along Salamanca Market on Saturday to savour the delights on offer
Yong Tau Foo, Street Food, Non-Halal
Choong Kee Pokok Besar Restaurant has a well-deserved reputation for its Yong Tau Foo (YTF), and though I couldn’t go out for lunch, my friends (Chiefeaters Joseph Chan and GIJoe) brought some back for me. They picked it up during lunch, but I didn’t have a chance to dig in until much later in the evening. Surprisingly, despite the lapse in time, the fried wantan retained its crispiness. Even the other items held up well, with their flavours intact.
This YTF isn’t Hakka-style (which is my usual preference), but it still impressed me. The meat had a firm, satisfying texture, and the flavours were balanced. It’s one of those meals where the taste shines even after hours, and I’m grateful for friends who know where to get the good stuff!
