Big Breakfast, Coffee, Pork-Free
Stepping into Common Man Coffee Roasters TTDI after a 6 year hiatus, I was wondering whether they had maintained the place and the standard of the food. Where the ambience was concerned, they have certainly maintained the place well. The furniture still feels sturdy and the seats well upholstered.
I ordered the Common Man Full Breakfast priced at RM49++ to be shared by both Jen and I. I am glad that we decided to share the dish. The portion size was generous, showcasing the café's commitment to providing value without compromising on quality. Each component of the breakfast, from the house made baked beans to the artisanal sourdough bread, exuded excellence in both flavour and presentation. The baked beans with the added bits of chicken chorizo were rich and flavourful, with just the right balance of savouriness and tanginess.
A minor grouse would be the sourdough bread. While dense and chewy, it however was rather mild tasting.
I noticed that they served Kouign Amann, a traditional Breton pastry. It exceeded all expectations. The moment it arrived at my table, the tantalizing aroma of butter and caramelized sugar wafted through the air, promising a truly indulgent experience. With its flaky layers and dense, buttery core, each bite was a symphony of textures and flavours that left me craving for more. At RM13, it was a decadent delight that was well worth its price.
Of course, no visit to Common Man Coffee Roasters would be complete without sampling their exquisite coffee offerings. Sourced from the finest beans and expertly roasted in-house, the coffee was a true revelation – aromatic, rich, and bursting with complex flavours.
A meal here is not a cheap affair (our bill was almost RM105) but what you get is an exceptional dining experience. From the good food to the excellent service, Common Man Coffee Roasters TTDI continues to hit the high marks. They get my vote as serving the Best Big Breakfast in KL and PJ. I think I had an even better experience than what I remembered.
