Tang Jai Yoo Restaurant Teochew Dinner
Teochew
Chiefeater Patrick Sato Lee had a simple Teochew style dinner at Tang Jai Yoo Restaurant in Bangkok's Chinatown

Pork Patty, Non-Halal
Dai Cha Dim Bukit Jalil presented an opportunity to explore steamed pork patties once again, following a memorable experience at Restoran 2323. Opting for the Rice with Minced Pork & Salted Fish dish (RM18.80), I anticipated the distinctive flavour of salted fish infused within the patty. However, to my surprise, the salted fish was merely sprinkled on top, resulting in a milder taste than expected.

Meanwhile, Jen’s choice of char siew wantan mee (RM21.80) revealed noodles that were firmer than she desired. To balance our meals, we decided to do a partial switch, with me taking her noodles while she took my rice.

The ample serving of rice prompted an additional order of Nam Yue Fried Pork Belly (RM20.80) to complement the meal. Unfortunately, the pork belly fell short of expectations in terms of flavour. We were expecting the nam yue pork belly to have a stronger taste.

Amidst these mixed experiences, the bowl of soup served with the wantan mee stood out for its robust flavour, ultimately enhancing the overall dining experience. What an unexpected item it turned out to be that saved the meal.
The total bill inclusive of drinks came up to RM90.50.
