Chiefeater Luke Soon was recommended by the sommelier at PsYCHoTiC OPeRAToR to try their chicken pate with Yau Char Kwai

Chinese, Non-Halal
I was brought to this place hidden right smack in a neighbourhood with a row of shophouses for dinner. Fatt Hei Leen Restaurant in Taman Taynton View in Cheras is indeed a hidden gem of dai chow.
The centrepiece of our meal was the Signature “Pau Heong” Rice with River Prawns. It’s recommended you call ahead to reserve this popular dish (pictured above). A swirling cauldron of bubbling liquid arrives: giant freshwater prawns peek through like Lovecraftian creatures and “explosively fried” rice is scattered throughout with chunks of water chestnut, carrots and peas.
Neither casserole nor porridge, it eats like consommé with millions of tiny croutons. Golden, brown and delicious, the previously crispy rice takes to the stock well, resulting in a sticky, almost brittle and candy like texture.
Pork ribs with dried oyster

3 cups chicken

Steamed 3 types of eggs

Crispy pork intestines with dried shrimps

Seong Tong spinach
