Fried Chicken
I tried the Grab Buy 1 Free 1 promo from Hot Bird Puchong, which came with 2 sets of 2-piece fried chicken, fries, and Coke — all for RM26.33. For that price, you’re essentially four large, golden-brown pieces of fried chicken with crisp, ridged fries to match.
Fries

The chicken arrived piping hot with an aroma that came wafted out the packaging. Their signature crunchy coating that cracks audibly at first bite was intact despite it being a delivery. Beneath the crust, the meat was juicy and well-seasoned, leaning towards a mildly spiced Southern-style profile rather than the overly peppery sort. The fries were thick-cut and dusted with seasoning that made them perfect for dipping into the provided sauce.

Each piece of chicken had a satisfying crunch without being oily, and the flavour was consistent — savoury, lightly seasoned, and well-fried. The fries complemented it nicely, with a good mix of textures between the soft centre and crisp exterior. The set easily fed two people comfortably, making it one of the better fast-food-style deals around Puchong right now.
I like how they kept the fried chicken from going soggy by having a piece of bread absorb the moisture and oil.

Score: 8.6/10
Hot Bird Puchong scores Flavour (8.7) for its tasty (I had the mildly spicy one), juicy and crunchy fried chicken, Value (9.0) for the unbeatable Grab deal, and Experience (8.2) for reliable takeaway quality. A straightforward, satisfying fried chicken fix that doesn’t break the bank.
