Kitsuzo Izakaya in Mon’t Kiara is truly a gem of an izakaya. It has a small but delightful selection of sake offerings and a delicious complement of yakitori and Japanese izakaya favourites like fried snacks, rice and udon. What makes it stand out is Alex’s (the proprietor) knowledge of sake and his willingness to share that information with patrons.
We ordered a wide variety of yakitori, fried meats, fried rice and udon plus a 1.8L bottle of sake that gave us our fill of food and beverage through the night. Each dish was expertly seasoned, ensuring a burst of flavour in every bite.
Yet, the most intriguing item on the menu has to be the fried pork tofu curd. It was a dish that boggled every person in our party that night. Such was the taste and texture that no one could rightly guess that it was pork. Instead, it surprises the palate with an almost fish-like flavour that left us all intrigued yet delighted.

That’s grilled ovaries on the left!

We had the use of the private room which has a minimum spend of RM500. The room takes up to 8 pax comfortably though you can squeeze 10 people in here. The combination of the setting, the sake, flavourful dishes and Alex’s sake sharing makes Kitsuzo Izakaya a memorable dining destination in Mon’t Kiara.
