Hunan
A return visit to Lao Hu Nan Puchong reveals a menu that continues to evolve, now offering a selection of ala carte dishes that add even more variety to their robust Hunanese repertoire.
Stir-Fried Spicy Sour Julienned Potato which we had before and enjoyed, was a repeat order.

The highlight of this revisit was undoubtedly the Signature Dry Noodles. The noodles were thoroughly and decadently coated in rendered pork lard, giving every strand a rich, silky mouthfeel and a deep savory punch.

Complementing the richness of the noodles was the Stir-Fried Roast Pork with Sour Vegetable broth. This was a masterclass in balance-the sourness from the preserved greens cut through the fattiness of the pork belly, resulting in a broth that was incredibly tasty and highly appetizing.

It’s the kind of dish that stimulates the palate and keeps you coming back for more, proving that Lao Hu Nan Puchong remains a strong contender for authentic bold flavors in Puchong.
Total: RM95.80 (inclusive of 10% Service Charge and 6% Service Tax)
Average spend per pax: RM47.90
MVX Score: 8.23/10
M – Meal Value
With a net total of under RM100 for a spread that easily satisfies two, the value is commendable for a mall-based restaurant. The quality of ingredients, particularly the roast pork and lard-coated noodles, justifies the mid-range pricing.
Score: 8.2/10
V – Venue & Vibe Vibes
Located on the first floor of IOI Mall, the restaurant is spacious and well-lit with a clean, modern aesthetic. It’s a comfortable spot (albeit a bit cold) that works well for both casual family lunches and group meals.
Score: 8.0/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor is the unapologetic use of pork lard in the dry noodles. In an era where many places hold back on traditional fats, Lao Hu Nan’s commitment to that rich, authentic coating creates a texture and flavour profile that stands out.
Score: 8.5/10
