Chiefeater Pat Lim shares a dinner stop at Jia Xiang Corner in Raub after a long drive from Kota Baru

Chinese, Lobster Noodles, Non-Halal
Mandarin Kitchen is an establishment in Queensway London and the genesis of the lobster noodles craze for me since the late 1980s. They’ve been around close to 50 years and I’m glad to report – still consistently good at 8/10 all these years.

Back then there were 3 bigs of the Bayswater – Royal China, Four Seasons (yes the original), and this Mandarin Kitchen. The halcyons of Canto dining back then. These 3 ruled over Bayswater – feeding hungry Asians and locals alike for decades.

The noodles used here = sang meen. Not yee meen. There’s a difference. The ginger scallion and spring onion sauce is marvellous. Nobody does it better – and it’s not exactly like the ginger scallion chicken we are used to in Singapore.
