Ru Ji Kitchen Fish Ball Mee
Fish Ball Noodles, Street Food
The fish balls at Ru Ji Kitchen may be inconsistently shaped but Chiefeater Luke Soon found that there is bouncy delight in this asymmetry

Hong Kong
I visited Nine Dragon Char Chan Teng, located at LG1-13 in Sunway Square, for a casual meal. The cafe is known for blending Hong Kong-style flavors with local Malaysian tastes, creating a nostalgic 1980s and 1990s ambiance.

I ordered the stir-fried mee because many of the other signatures I wanted to try were sold out (at 2 pm). The noodles was simple but very tasty. It arrived with a pleasant aroma and the taste to match it. The question to ask is whether it’s worth it at RM16.90 for a plain noodle with several slices of pork.

The Claypot Coffee, which was a good accompaniment. It had a gentle coffee taste with a silky texture without being overly sweet. However, if you are looking for a coffee with a kick, this won’t be it.

Stir Fried Mee – RM16.90
Claypot Coffee – RM8.90
Score: 7.16/10
M – Meal Value
The pricing is reasonable for a specialty Hong Kong-style cafe in a mall setting. With main noodle dishes around RM17, it offers an acceptable quality-to-price ratio for a satisfying lunch.
Score: 7.0/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The venue at Sunway Square provides a strong “char chan teng” vibe, making it a fun and kitschy spot for a meal. It serves as an accessible retreat for those working or shopping in the Bandar Sunway area. If you sit closer to the window, you would be offered a view of the Sunway Quay and the highway.
Score: 7.5/10
X – X-Factor
The aroma of the stir-fried dishes is the standout here. The ability to deliver simple, classic flavors with consistent technical execution—like the “wok hei” in the noodles—gives it a reliable re-visit factor.
Score: 7.0/10
